EXERPTS FROM OUTSIDER TRAINING 101:

Okay you recruits. Listen up, 'cause I don't have time to go over any of this more than once. The realities that make up the Omniverse are like soap bubbles. At the simplest, they are soap bubbles that want to stay at a constant mass energy. You all are familiar with the concept of conservation of energy, right? If not, get out of my class room 'til you are. Okay. Good.

Now all these soap bubbles are stuck together, see, and everything is fine unless some Insider starts messing with something he shouldn't. Then things get messy. First problem occurs when the Insider decides to thin the walls of his bubble. Now this is bad enough, cause it weakens all of the walls of the bubble. Not just the small spot he was playing with. If you let weakened walls go long enough, the bubble pops. No more reality. Bad Stuff. Looks really bad if it happens on _your_ watch.

Now, things typically get worse cause them Insiders usually thin walls to either bring something in or pitch something out. Remember what I said about the bubbles wanting to stay at constant mass energy? Yep, you got it. The bubble tries to even things out. If the Insider sucked something in, the bubble tries to push something else out. If the Insider pitches something out, the bubble tries to suck something in. Usually, from a bubble other than the one the Insider is playing with. Then those bubbles are out of balance, and they try the same trick. You get the picture.

That's where you come in. Your job is to keep things from getting out of control.

Okay, that's the simple version. Now keep in mind that the realities aren't confined to three dimensions like soap bubbles and that the mass-energy equations are constantly changing....

....Now most of the time, what Insiders call 'Monsters' are just lost civilians from another reality. Lost and confused civilians. Lost and confused and sometimes violent civilians. The rest of the time, they're more dangerous....

....So, we try to keep teams made up of the same basic genotype. It makes inter-team relations easier. Not easy, mind you, easier. And it makes assignments easier. While none you are likely to make it back to your home worlds, if they even still exist, you are all likely to spend a lot of time monitoring and managing problems on worlds very similar to your homes....

....Let's review the various training programs you can enter once you pass this class. There are the Watchers who are inserted into realities to monitor things firsthand. There are SARAs - Search And Rescue Agents who are sent it to retrieve innocent civs lost in the wrong reality. There are MonTechs who are responsible for external monitoring. There Geeks who maintain gear. There are the BlueBolts who primary tasks involve quick and dirty extractions and exterminations. And finally, Admins. They manage teams. Any questions?
